The Area
A downtown on the bay, a neighborhood of porches.
Downtown St. Petersburg faces Tampa Bay across a chain of public waterfront parks. The new 26-acre St. Pete Pier District opened on July 6, 2020, joining the Dalí Museum, the Museum of Fine Arts, and a growing skyline of residential towers.
Just north, the Historic Old Northeast was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2003. It's known for early-20th-century homes on narrow brick streets with granite curbs and hexagonal-block sidewalks, shaded by old trees and bordered by North Shore Park and Coffee Pot Bayou.
Downtown
Towers, the Pier, and the arts.
Downtown housing is mostly condominiums, from older mid-rises to new luxury towers near the waterfront and Central Avenue. Walkability is the draw: restaurants, the Pier, museums, Beach Drive, and the Saturday Morning Market are steps away.
As in any condo purchase, the building's budget, reserves, inspections, and insurance matter as much as the view.
Old Northeast
Brick streets and bungalows.
The Old Northeast has the city's largest collection of early-20th-century homes — bungalows, Mediterranean Revival, Colonial Revival, and Craftsman styles. Brick streets and granite curbs are protected within the city's historic districts.
A roughly two-mile waterfront path runs from Vinoy Park through North Shore Park to Coffee Pot Bayou, where residents walk, run, and watch for manatees.
